Let's Start at the Very Beginning!!

Let's Start at the Very Beginning!!! At a meeting last summer (@ Kenadies LA home) I spoke up with a feeling I had been feeling for awhile... the question in my head was.. What Happens to our Hershe Girls After They Bridge?? Where do they go?? How do they get along in life?? Those questions came out of my mouth, then I said to Kenadie (HerShe Founder) I want to work with the PEP Program!! I want to help more girls, if I can!
Kenadie was very Happy and answered...'ABSOLUTELY!! I've been praying that someone would be interested in taking that on!! "Really", I said.."Definitely"..she said!  And So It Began!!
HerShe Pep Girls (l to r) Coree (Alpha), Erika (Gamma) , Rachel (Gamma)  & Danielle (Alpha)

I spoke with another Mentor whom I respect and adore (Ms. Maria) and told her of my situation. Ms. Maria and asked her if she would like to work with me and Thankfully..she said YES!! Whew!! (asking for help is a very important thing, thats a Pearl 1..pick that up)

We had our first HerShe PEP meeting at Ms. Maria's Moms house, with four girls!! It was a wonderful day October Day in Los Angeles!! The Food was in Abundance and the ideas and conversation flowed beautifully.

Our second meeting was at our Westchester HerShe Location in November and we had two PEP girls in Attendance, Erika & Rachel. We discussed dressing for success, how to find employment and College placement. We were supported by Mr. Michael Bennett from the Milken branch office of the LA Urban League. He brought pamphlets and discussed the different programs at the Urban League.
Our third meeting was in February (Black History Month) and was attended by Erika and JonDonna and the current HerShe Girls.  It was a day of  Valuable information for our HerShe Girls and our PEP Girls!!

Ms. Twinkie & HerShe Pep Girls (l to r) Kalisha, Coree, Ikea (baby Melan) & Derrica (Alphas)

In this Month of March, HerShe was having a College and Career  Day sponsored by NSN (national Sales Network and the HerShe Pep Girls were invited. HerShe PEP girl, Coree, decided to bring us some surprises who put tears in Kenadies eyes!!  Alpha class PEP girls were in attendance!! Kalisha, Derrica and Ikea were in tow!!
Thank you Lord.. I said silently to myself..I can put a face to a name and Ms. Maria and I can create valuable relationships and ties to these young ladies!! (Relationships are everything.. we must cultivate them (Pearl 2..PICK THAT UP!!)

Kenadie was overwhelmed and very Happy!! She introduced us to the HerShe Alpha girls and we decided to have an impromptu meeting!
"We will have a PEP program after all" I thought to myself!!  Ms. Maria and I spoke with the ladies as  they partook of  lunch then fellowshipped with the newer HerShe girls.  The ladies then joined the discussion at the NSN Network regarding College readiness and Career preparedness!
After that class, we decided to close out our meeting and work towards meeting the needs of our PEP girls and ask how they would like to be supported in their dreams and goals!!  Kalisha prayed us out and we will meet again very soon!!

Our goal is to Support, Encourage and help Guide You towards your Goals and Dreams!! No Dream is Too Big!!

  4. Kudos to you for acknowledging there was a need and continuing the much needed support the girls required, once bridging into society. Its so rewarding to see that the girls of HerShe are utilizing the lessons and experiences afforded to them as Alum of the illustrious HerShe program and becoming the ladies they are destined to be.

We all need cheerleaders in our corner! This allows everyone to still be a part of the HerShe family and cheer on the successes and achievements the ladies accomplish no matter how close or far away they may be. It's a great feeling to be acknowledged for reaching another stepping stone into adulthood no matter how big or small those steps may be.
-Love the job updates section and the pictures as it allows the mentors to see mentees who may have bridged over before they became apart of the program.

Please keep up the good work and dropping pearls along the way.

    With much love,

    XOXO Bianca
